Reduce your energy costs and fulfil your sustainability targets with Island Solar.

At Island Solar, our mission is to make solar simple.

We use our 40+ years of collective solar industry experience to demystify solar power for residential, commercial and off-grid clients – giving you the confidence that you’re installing the solution that will truly work for you, now and into the future.

A key part of that is the products we select. All products installed by Island Solar are Clean Energy Council (CEC) certified. The CEC is Australia’s peak body for solar energy, working with consumers, renewable energy and energy storage companies, and rooftop solar installers to ensure quality and further the development of clean energy in Australia.

In addition, we only use products from a select group of suppliers that we have partnered with for years. All our suppliers are renowned for  the quality and reliability of their products, as well as the best after-sales support in the business.

PHOTOVOLTAIC PANELS

Photovoltaic panels – also known as solar panels or PV panels – are the first thing most people think of when you mention solar power. It’s these panels which convert sunlight into electricity. Quality solar panels are a must when it comes to maximising solar generation – better panels generate more electricity, and are more tolerant of temperature changes and low light conditions. Island Solar uses PV panels from the following brands:

  • QCells
  • LONGi

INVERTERS

Solar panels may do the legwork of generating electricity from sunlight, but the inverter is the part of your solar system that enables you to use that power. Inverters convert the DC (direct current) electricity from the PV panels to AC (alternating current) power – which is what’s used in the power grid, our workplaces and our homes. Modern inverters are highly sophisticated devices and can provide detailed information about the performance of your system. Island Solar uses inverters from the following brands:

  • Sungrow
  • Fronius

BATTERIES

One of the issues with solar panels, especially for homeowners, is that they work best during the middle of the day – while we use most of our electricity in the evenings. Wouldn’t it be great to really make the most of the energy you’re generating at home? That’s where batteries come in. Solar batteries store the energy generated by PV panels, enabling you to use it when you need it rather than paying peak prices to your electricity supplier. Plus, it’ll also provide you with electricity in the event of a blackout – giving you true independence from the grid. Island Solar uses batteries from the following brands:

  • RedEarth Solar
  • Commodore
  • Tesla
  • Bluetti
  • Sungrow

SOLAR AC DC AIR CONDITIONING

What if we told you that you could run your air con all day during the sunniest, hottest days without it costing you a cent?

That’s the power of Solar AC DC solar air conditioning. The power for Solar AC DC units is supplied by their own dedicated photovoltaic panels: when the sun is at its hottest and you really need the air con, that’s when they work best. Plus, because they are fully DC (direct current) systems, you don’t need any inverters, charge controllers, batteries or so on – saving you even more money – and they feature a smart power feature so they turn on when there’s enough power in the morning, and turn off when the sun goes down.

If you need a system that works outside sunlight hours, opt for a hybrid system. Solar AC DC hybrid systems can swap between solar and mains power (or battery power for off-grid customers) at the flick of a switch. Alternatively, you can prioritise solar power and top-up any shortfall from the mains.

iStore HOT WATER

Looking for a cost-effective way to cut your energy bills? iStore hot water tanks can cut your hot water bill by up to two-thirds.

The iStore unit works by absorbing the energy from the surrounding air and using it to heat your water. As heating water for the home accounts for up to 30% of the total energy usage for the average Australian household. iStore can reduce CO² emissions by up to four tonnes and up to up to $950 per year on your energy bills.

The iStore boasts four intelligent operating modes that adapt to all situations, including a hybrid mode for when additional guests are staying in your home and a vacation mode for when you are away on holidays.

SMART METERS AND MONITORING

You can’t manage what you can’t measure: a smart meter (usually in tandem with a smartphone app) allows you to get total visibility over your solar generation, energy consumption and dollar savings. All our smart meters are retrofittable to existing solar power systems. Island Solar uses smart meters from the following brands:

  • Sungrow
  • Fronius
