Why these reviews matter
A few themes come up repeatedly across our reviews, and they're not accidents: off-grid jobs finished on a real deadline (Chris Wilson's system was ready before Christmas, as promised), taking over and fixing jobs other contractors left unfinished (Alex Rajak's project), careful design on difficult roofs (Ken Pettifer's Googong system runs four arrays over two levels of a steep roof, each panel on its own Enphase micro inverter), and helping customers actually claim rebates they were told they weren't eligible for. How we earn a review, rather than ask for one
We don't run review-gating or incentive schemes: asking only happy customers to leave a review, or offering a discount in exchange for one, is against both Google's policies and Australian consumer law, and it produces a rating that doesn't actually mean anything. Our approach is simpler: do the job properly, communicate honestly about timelines and pricing along the way, and ask every client afterward if they'd be willing to share their experience. Some do, most don't, and that's fine; a 5.0★ rating built from 18 genuine reviews tells you more than a much larger number padded with incentivised ones.
What to actually check in an installer's reviews
Star ratings alone don't tell you much; a business can sit at 5.0★ with three reviews just as easily as with three hundred. When you're comparing installers, it's worth reading a handful of the actual review text rather than the number: do reviewers mention specific things (a deadline met, a fault fixed, a rebate applied) or is the language generic and interchangeable across every review? Does the business respond to reviews, including any critical ones? And does the review count and rating match what you'd expect for a business that's actually completed 100+ projects, or does the volume look thin relative to the claimed track record? Review recency matters too
A handful of five-star reviews from years ago says less about current service quality than a smaller number of recent ones. Solar businesses change: staff turn over, subcontractor relationships shift, a company that was excellent three years ago isn't guaranteed to still be excellent today. When you're checking any installer's reviews (ours included), it's worth glancing at the dates, not just the star average.
