Solar battery and inverter installation being serviced
Servicing existing solar and battery systems across NSW & the ACT.

A solar system is largely "install and forget" when it's working correctly — but panels, inverters and batteries are all real hardware that degrades, faults, and occasionally gets installed poorly in the first place. Our servicing work covers routine maintenance, fault diagnosis, and getting underperforming or broken systems back to spec — for systems we installed originally, and for systems installed by someone else.

Why servicing matters

An underperforming system often looks completely normal from the ground — panels are still generating something, so the drop-off is easy to miss without monitoring or a proper inspection. Common, quietly-costly issues include a failing inverter operating below its rated efficiency, a string of panels affected by a wiring fault or a bad connector, shading from tree growth since installation, or dirt and grime buildup reducing output on a system that hasn't been cleaned in years. None of these throw an obvious red flag — they just slowly cost you money on your power bill.

What a service visit covers

  • Visual and electrical inspection of panels, mounting, cabling and isolators against current safety standards.
  • Inverter performance check — confirming it's operating at expected efficiency, not just powered on.
  • Fault-finding for underperformance, tripping, error codes, or a system that's stopped generating altogether.
  • Battery health check, where a battery is fitted — confirming it's still holding and cycling capacity as expected.
  • Panel cleaning recommendations, particularly relevant for coastal South Coast sites that pick up salt spray faster than an inland suburban roof.
  • A clear report on what we found and what (if anything) needs fixing — not just a "looks fine" tick and an invoice.

We service systems we didn't install

If your original installer isn't responding, has closed down, or you're simply not confident in the work, we'll assess an existing system regardless of who installed it. This is a genuinely common situation — an installer that quoted cheap and disappeared is one of the risks our own guide to choosing a CEC-accredited installer covers directly, and servicing a stranded system is one of the more frequent enquiries we get.

Warranty work vs. general servicing

It's worth understanding the difference upfront. Manufacturer warranties on panels, inverters and batteries cover defects and underperformance against their spec, and are handled through the manufacturer (sometimes via whichever installer holds that relationship) — we can help identify whether an issue is a warranty claim before you pay for a service call. Our own workmanship warranty covers installation quality on systems we installed. General servicing — cleaning, routine inspection, non-warranty fault-finding — is a separate, straightforward paid visit regardless of who installed the system originally.

When to call us

  • Your power bill has crept up without a change in usage.
  • Your inverter is showing an error code or has stopped displaying generation data.
  • A battery isn't holding the charge it used to.
  • It's simply been years since anyone looked at the system and you'd like a health check.
  • Your original installer is unreachable and something's gone wrong.

Common servicing questions

How often should a solar system actually be serviced? There's no single mandated interval, but a periodic inspection — roughly every 2-3 years for a well-behaving system, more often for coastal sites picking up salt spray, or immediately if you notice a performance drop — catches the slow, invisible degradation issues before they cost you real money on your bill. A system that's never been looked at since installation day is the single most common situation we're called out to.

Does getting a system serviced by someone other than the original installer void the manufacturer's warranty? Generally, no — manufacturer product and performance warranties on panels, inverters and batteries are tied to the equipment itself, not to who services it, as long as the servicing work itself doesn't damage the equipment or violate the manufacturer's installation requirements. If you're ever unsure about a specific product's terms, we'll check the documentation with you before doing any work, rather than assuming.

What does a service call typically cost? It depends on what we find and what the job actually needs — a straightforward inspection and clean is a different job to full inverter fault-finding and a component replacement. We'll give you a clear quote before starting any paid work beyond the initial assessment.

Can you service a system that's still within its installer's own workmanship warranty period, if that installer is unresponsive? Yes. We'll assess the system and be upfront if an issue looks like it should be a warranty claim against the original installer rather than a paid service call — but we won't leave you without support just because the original installer won't answer the phone.

Something not performing right?

We'll assess your existing system — ours or someone else's — and give you a straight answer on what it needs.
